Clovis West girl’s golf lived up to its expectations November 2 at the 18-Hole North Sectional Championship by earning the first valley ring this season and officially becoming four-year valley champions with a 404 par.

“It is the dream of every sport,” head coach Kenneth Shipley said.

Varsity players Asia Adell shot a 76 par, with Alison Ross, 80; Camille Orito, 81; Jamie Thomas, 83; Morgan Thomas, 84; and Alyssa Orito, 86.

“Our main goal for the season was to win the valley championship, and we did,” Adell said.

The eagles advanced to the 18-Hole Southern California Regional Championship November 16 and got sixth place with a 414 par, “which is the best any team has done in our league,” according to Adell.

Indeed, the girls have excelled in their league earlier this season, breaking one 9-Hole team scoring record that had stood since 2002 and breaking its own 18-Hole record by 13 par.

“The team was outstanding,” Shipley said. “It is one of the most talented in California and probably in the nation.”

The team has won all four Tri-River Athletic Conference [TRAC] tournaments by a wide margin. Asia Adell was the low-scorer and won two of the four tournaments. Alison Ross was the low-scorer and winner of a third one.
