An air of hypocrisy lingers in the atmosphere of Clovis West. The Eagles of Honor poster is stretched across the campus, yet honor in our administration is hard to find. After the graduation speeches last year, we suspected it. After ASB elections we knew it. After Homecoming we are sick of it.

So the question is: “How free is public education, and to what extent should it cover its students?”
Should the school cover the extracurricular choices of its students (incidentally by taking more money from said students’ parent’s pockets) or should extracurriculars be just that: extra, requiring the students to pay.

For high school students, physical education in the middle of our busy day is something that we’ve had to live with since the days of Kastner where we first had to dress out for P.E. and if I remember correctly had enforced P.E. “uniforms”. Arriving into high school, many freshmen have been found to be both happy and confused at their newfound responsibility of having attire options for P.E. It’s like when your mom stops picking out your outfits and you develop some independence.

The Clovis West Winter Formal is a night of excitement for those who attend and is highly anticipated all fall. On the night of the dance, students get dressed up and head to the gym for a night of music and dancing. Before heading on to the dance floor, students typically drop their wallets and purses off at a nearby table.
